In september 2023, European Blind Union issued important document position paper on Access to Reading and Using Braille – a matter of the future clearly outlining our position. (external link, PDF file, 271 kB)
The position paper clearly states the situation we are in concerning using braille and states also important recommendations for all members to consider within the frame of their respective national situation and try to promote braille and its usage in each country. The importance of braille literacy is crucial for further wellbeing of a blind individual, it needs to be supported by law in each possible field, most of all, in the early education of a blind child.
