For braille users it is really ovious that braille is cultural heritage. Therefore many counties are on the way to include braille in their national lists of intangible cultural heritage.
Slovenia, France and Germany succeded already in this.
France and Germany are nominating “Braille: reading and writing by touch” for the representative list of intangible heritage of humanity in 2026.
