Where to start with children of low age who are in need of touch of braille? Tactile recognition is one of the most important prerequisites for development of braille reading skills. There are many toys and aids for kids to get in to the basics of braille in a playfull way. One of those is the braille focused Lego serie – LEGO® Braille Bricks.
There are many activities for children to try with braille bricks. Guidelines and game describtions are carefully designed with an aim to develop and train tactile recognition and imagination. There is even a course available, Learning Through Play with LEGO® Braille Bricks, on which a participant can acquire the principles of learning through play, and how to apply these when teaching pre-braille and braille, using LEGO Braille Bricks.
