The second life of the Paper Clip

There really are a whole host of different types of action days.
Thoughtful, sad, happy, appreciative, and, of course, not forgetting the classic holidays.
But somehow it’s the really bizarre ones that bring a smile to your face in their own unique way. And we have just such a bizarre one for you today.

Did you know that today is Paper Clip Day in the US?
Who comes up with these things?

But once you do a little research, it’s actually not that uninteresting.
For example, there is no particular historical event behind this day. And paper clips, in various early forms, had been around for many years before that. Incidentally, the first patent was not for the type of clip we know today.

The clip we now call a paper clip did not come onto the market until more than 50 years after the first precursor version in 1867, in 1919 to be precise.
For many decades, the paper clip was an indispensable tool in everyday office life.

But now, in the age of digitalization, its heyday is slowly coming to an end.
Until now!
Braille 200 is giving the paper clip a whole new lease of life:
informative and above all decorative!

These little metal marvels are great for displaying Braille.
You can admire them in the following pictures:

In the first picture, we have stapled the word “Büro” (office) in uncontracted German Braille onto, or rather into, a piece of cardboard.

And in the second picture, you can see the whole thing in combination with a door to demonstrate possible places of use. A whole new form of readable decoration!

Braille 200 wishes you all a happy Paper Clip Day!
