The DBSV Braille card
The DBSV offers a new, simple medium for learning Braille.
With the DBSV Braille card, you can not only learn Braille, but also write it. The German Braille alphabet is shown on the inside. In the lower third, there is a mold for pressing dots and a template for writing.
Place a piece of paper in the folding card and close it. You can use normal 80 g/m² paper or 120 g paper.
Turn the card so that the back is facing up. You can now press dots into the paper with a ballpoint pen or something similar in the rectangular boxes on the template. Press either in a corner of a box or in the middle of the left or right edge. The indentations in the lacquer layer under the paper create tactile dots.
Since the dots are pressed into the paper from top to bottom, the paper must be turned over to read it. This means that it must be written in mirror writing from right to left. For this reason, the alphabet above the template is shown again in mirror image, i.e. the way the letters must be written.
This folding card works like a standard slate for Braille.
It also comes with an extra stylus for pressing the dots in properly.

Description of the card
The card is made of sturdy cardboard, four-sided, in DIN A6 format.
On the front, in the top left corner – also tactile – is the DBSV logo, a purple eye, the right half of which is blurred.
Next to it is written in black: Deutscher Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband Learn to read and write Braille easily,
In the middle is a photo of hands reading Braille. At the bottom is DBSV Braille in Braille.
When you open the card, the German Braille alphabet is shown on the left-hand side in black letters. The Braille dots are tactile and colored. Braille dots that are not printed are printed in a pale color. This allows you to see exactly which dots of a Braille character are meant.
On the right is written in Braille and black letters: Instructions at:
At the bottom left is a raised grid of indentations into which the Braille dots are pressed. At the bottom right is a grid of punched-out rectangles that serves as a template for writing.
When you fold the card so that the back is facing up, the Braille alphabet is printed in mirror writing at the top. Below this is the grid of rectangles.
If you place a piece of paper inside the folded card, you can press dots into the paper from the back.
