The sound of Braille

Over the past 12 months, we have read a lot about how Braille feels, how it is written, how much we love Braille, and how important it still is. But today, we want to take a closer look at how different Braille sounds.

To celebrate 200 years of Braille, we created a compilation of sounds that capture the essence of Braille writing, reading, learning, and printing. Over almost seven minutes, you will hear 17 distinct sounds, including those of analog and electric typewriters, fingers reading Braille on paper, different printers, slates, and everyday objects like egg cartons. Can you identify and distinguish them all?

The background transitions in soft shades from lilac to white. The text “The Sound of Braille” is displayed, with the logos of Living Braille and Braille 200 in the bottom right corner.
