Planned Android 13 promises an improved accessibility including Braille displays support

Until now, TalkBack rolled out to all Android phones running Android 5.0 or later in 2020 and brought the possibility of Talkback Braille keyboard. For braille display connection it was though needed to download separate application BrailleBack.

Google I/O Conference announced Android 13 will include built-in braille support without the need to download a separate application BrailleBack. Right through the Talkback application users will experience improved navigation, additional controls, and the ability to edit or retype text through their braille display.

In the new Android 13, braille support will allow for similar controls to the TalkBack screen reader, and will include additional commands, improved navigation, and a new connectivity module.
