Braille 200 is decorating your festive day today with a special fun fact:
Did you know that the custom of the Christmas tree originated in Germany and spread from there to France and many other countries around the world? The first documented Christmas trees can be found as early as the 16th century in German-speaking countries. In the 19th century, decorated fir trees finally became popular in France, and from there they began their global conquest.
So what could be more fitting than to honor this day of Christmas trees with a matching Braille image of a Christmas tree, which you can even download to make yourself?
Louis Braille himself probably never experienced a Christmas tree in this form. Born in 1809, he lived in a time when Christmas trees were far from widespread. This makes it all the more wonderful to imagine how he would have enjoyed a tree decorated with his own writing.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas with all the trimmings!
