What are your favorite moments of relaxation?
For some, Braille is simply indispensable, even in an age of advanced technology.
Today, Susanna Halme tells us about her favorite way to unwind and how she came across a special gem in the process.
Thank you, Susanna, for this inspiring tip for the upcoming weekend!
A good book and cup of tea – is there anything better?
I love reading braille books. I order paper braille books from the accessible library and enjoy them home. When I’m traveling or outside home, I prefer audio books since they are easier to carry and don’t take space. But at home a traditional paper book is a must for me! Sitting in the sofa with a braille book and having a warm tea cup next to you – that is a combo that I like to enjoy as often as possible.
I like different kinds of books from crime novels to historical novels, scifi and fantasy. Here are some books that I have been enjoying lately:
• Yaa Gyasi: Homegoing. So well-written, thought-provoking book that discovers the history of slavery, freedom and positions in society. This story starts long ago in history and continues over year hundreds.
• Sandra Brown: Tough. This was quite a basic agent/crime novel, but there is one thing that makes it special: this is the only book in our accessible library that is available ONLY in braille, so not as audio book at all.
I wish all the braille readers a lot of reading joy!
