Everyone needs Braille ….. and water

Ikea, known for its huge range of all kinds of home accessories.
Many of them are practical, some perhaps less so.
But did you know that over 20 years ago, Ikea actually had a flower pot in its range that featured Braille?
Yes, really! And we can even prove it!

The planter shown is about 25 cm high and has a diameter of approximately 20 cm. It is made of aluminum, with dots measuring around 4 mm in diameter embossed on its side wall. The phrase “Everyone needs water” is written in Braille all around it.
The Braille characters are about 2.5 cm high. The sentence runs twice around the pot in one line and additionally in four lines one below the other. The same sentence is embossed again in normal writing on the underside.
The pot stands on a lawn in the garden. A tomato plant grows in it, protruding about 20 cm above the rim of the pot.
