The Braille Working Group of the European Blind Union (EBU) will publish a Braille Calendar for 2027, featuring images created using braille characters.
A simple example of a braille image could be a table: ⠹⠉⠉⠏
The calendar will consist of title page with braille graphics, 12 pages, one for each month of the year and few extra pages with image descriptions. Each page will feature a braille image together with the calendar for that month.
The images will represent typical or characteristic objects from twelve different countries. These may include a famous building, a plant, a tool, a traditional food, or another object associated with the respective country.
The participating countries are:
- Austria,
- Belgium,
- the Czech Republic,
- Finland,
- Germany,
- Ireland,
- Latvia,
- the Netherlands,
- Portugal,
- Slovakia,
- Slovenia,
- Spain
- and the United Kingdom. Germany will contribute the image for the title page.
The calendar will be available free of charge as digital braille files in several formats, ready to download and print using a braille embosser.
Braille producers are welcome to download and print the calendar and make printed copies available at a price covering material and production costs only. We would also greatly appreciate it if any new language versions of the calendar could be sent to us by e-mail. We will then make them available on this website so that they can be shared and used by others as well.
