For today’s excursion into virtual video game worlds, we have chosen another classic.
The Age of Empires series has been famous for over 25 years for its sophisticated real-time strategy in various historical settings.
And who says that Braille should always be used for building? In strategy games, Braille can also be wonderfully arranged with game characters.
Video description
In the computer game classic Age of Empires 3, a group of 29 monks has come together to celebrate the 200th anniversary of braille.
The video starts with a close up shot of a group of shaolin monks standing in the centre of a lush Chinese village. They have their eyes covered with white cloths and are armed with bows. The camera then pans out to reveal the surroundings, a couple of small buildings, with a few horsemen between them, two temples, and villagers working on green rice fields. Now it is visible that the monks are arranged to form the words “braille 200” written in braille. The frame freezes and black brille dots appear above their heads as well as again “braille 200” written in roman letters. Then a mouse cursor clicks on the monks, and they start to walk towards the village gate. The video closes with a closeup of the monks walking through the gate where they join a warrior, ready to face their uncertain destiny as video game characters.
