Dreams and Other Sweet Things

Some dreams just take their time. Like good dough that needs to rise.
But when they finally come true, they’re all the more satisfying!
In this case: a childhood dream with a gummy twist and a touch of Braille finesse.
Candy and LEGO? Plus Braille? Honestly that’s the perfect combo!
Thanks, Adél Taskovics from Hungary for sharing this wonderfully playful and charming story!

A childhood dream that I have realised as an adult

Like most kids, I loved playing with LEGO building blocks. Like other kids, I had a vivid imagination and, unsurprisingly, I was also a big fan of sweets. I thought, why not combine the two?

My mother would often surprise me with some special toy, candy or chocolate, so I was able to explore the shelves of the shops as a blind person. I often asked her to bring me LEGO cubes made of gumdrops. He searched but could not find any.

I had to wait until I was 33 to realise this dream this spring. My mother came home one day with LEGO gumdrops.

I didn’t delay, I started playing straight away.

My contribution is captured in two pictures.

In one of them, my hand is holding a small bowl with lots of gumdrops in it.

On the other, the word "Braille", which I created using the gumdrops LEGO, each cube corresponding to a Braille dot. I placed my creation on Braille paper, further emphasizing the Braille.
